An MFA graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Christine Buth Furness creates abstracted landscapes that serve as visual poems of the environments she navigates. Dividing her time between studios in Wisconsin and Northern California, she employs a meticulous process of layering transparent water-based paints to capture the shifting light and tumultuous skies of two distinct parallel landscapes. Her award-winning work, featured in over 300 exhibitions worldwide, invites viewers into a state of peace and stillness, using paths and horizons to guide the eye through spaces both observed in nature and born from imagination.
